In 1815, the principle of nationalism was ignored in order to preserve the peace. Italy and Germany were left as divided states, but strong nationalist movements and revolutions led to the unification of Italy and Germany. Great Britain, Germany and France needed foreign markets after the increase in manufacturing caused by the Industrial Revolution. These countries competed for economic expansion in Africa. Although Britain and France resolved their differences in Africa, several crises foreshadowing the war involved the clash of Germany against Britain and France in North Africa. In the Middle East, the crumbling Ottoman Empire was alluring to Austria-Hungary, the Balkans and Russia.

Film Lesson: "Mountains of the Moon"

In the movie "Mountains of the Moon" Richard Francis Burton and John Hanning Speke go on out in an expedition, with a lot of men. The purpose of this expedition was to find the source of the Nile river. They travel for about 7 months. They still haven't found the source till then. When Richard runs in with the tribe, the leader wants him to stay, so Speke goes out to look for the source of the Nile, and he finds it. This shows no matter how bad the situation was, They always found a way to find a solution. Even though Richard had to stay with the tribe, Speke took his men and went to find the Nile and he succeeded. But, Richard does not believe him because they don't have the accurate evidence to tell them that is the source of the Nile, they are from England, the rich country, Polite, and in Africa, they go days without eating. This shows how persistant these two men were. They do find the Nile..But Speke suicides. This movie ends in a tragedy, but has a great outcome. The reason that they named the lake they found, Lake Victoria, was because it was name it after what Speke wanted it named. He told Burton he will name the lake, Lake Victoria, and Burton did so. It is real ironic to name a lake in the middle of Africa after a white women in an African-American country.

The Imperialism Project

Why did we do the Imperialism Project? Marx believed that everyone should get the same share of money. If there was a baseball player in China, and there was a grocery store owner, the baseball player and the owner would get the same amount of money, that is not how Marx described it should be. He was born in Prussia, later named Germany. In his days, he wanted a lot of changes to take place, he thought it was unfair how other people got way higher wages than the normal person, he thought there should be change. In the year 1849, Marx moved to London, there he continued to stud and write. Most of his lifetime Marx relied on "Engels" for financial support. Marx thought that as people got richer, the workers in factories would want to make a bloody revolt. That's why marx wanted to change that, make everything equal, and fair.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx was born in May 5th 1818 and died March 14, 1883. In the early 1800's, three groups struggled for supremacy in European Society's. Modern Nationalism came out of the French Revolution. As soon as the state became independent, it became a nation-state.

By the 1830's the return of the old order was breaking down, and it was arranged by the Vienna Congress. Liberals and Nationalists in Europe were revolting against their conservitave governments. The revolutionary zeal spread across Europe. In November 1830 Belgians finally declared their independence from Dutch control. In 1830 the king of france King Charles X tried to stage a return to absolute monarchy. The attempt led to him fleeing to Great Britain. King Charles X was replaced by Louis-Philippe.

In the year 1848, the nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte became president of France. Later on Louis-Napoleon became Emperor of france. They welcomed him with open arms because they knew he was a strong ruler. While he was in control the percentage of unemployment decreased by a lot. Before Italy was Italy they were nothing but a little part of land controlled by Vienna, Australia.

Simon Bolivar

Bolivar was born in Caracas, Venezuela on July 24th of the year 1783, In his time, he was one of the greatest generals in the South America. Bolivar's parents died when he was a child and he inherited a fortune. He is called "The Liberator" in South America. The Spaniards forced Bolivar to retreat from Venezuela to "New Granada" which is now called Colombia. He captured Bogota in 1814 with the help of his colombian force. His victories overthe spaniards won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela.

When Bolivar went to Spain with his friends Esteban Escobar, he met a woman Maria Teresa Rodríguez del Toro y Alaysa who he married shortly afterwards. When Bolivar returned to Venezuela in 1803, his wife died of yellow fever. After that Bolivar made a vow that he would never marry again, and he kept that vow for the rest of his life. After the victory of a few more battles, Bolivar traveled to Haiti in 1815 and petitioned their president Alexander Sabes Petión to help the American Spanish cause. With the help of Haiti, Bolivar was led to a great victory in the Battle of Boyaca in August 7, 1819.

By the year of 1827, Civil wars exploded which destroyed all that Bolivar had fought for. In December 1830 "El Liberador" died of tuberculosis.

John Locke And "The Enlightenment"

John Locke was a man of great intelligence, he inspired a lot of the people is the 1800's. He was one of the most famous guys in the age that the Declaration was written, He contributed to the idea of making it. The government gets it's power from the people, without the people the government would be what it is today. "We the people" are the first 3 words in the Declaration of Independence which means, it's all because of us that we have a good government.

The idea of the Declaration of Independence was inspired by words that John Locke made, which Thomas Jefferson took into his own hands and made an idea out of it. He also had a huge influence on modern democracy, some things may not have been here if John Locke wouldn't of made such a big impact.

Copernicus and the trial of Galileo

Galileo Galilei was a man who was born in the year of 1564, the same year that Shakespeare was born and the same exact year Michelangelo the famous painter died. Galilei's trial was a big deal,
the trial took place at the Holy Office for promoting in a book his idea that the earth didn't lie at the center of the universe. . The trial of Galileo ended on him having house arrest, that was the end of the Italian Renaissance.

From an early age Galileo showed his scientific skills, at the age of 19 he discovered the isochronism of the pendulum. In a few years Galileo was given the reputation of a scientist and a great lecturer, After 3 years at the University of Pisa Galileo was given a position and he accepted it. That is where the deep interest of the Copernican Theory started. Copernicus' theory was a challenge to the accepted notion contained in the natural philosophy of Aristotle, the astronomy of Ptolemy and the teachings of the Church that the sun and all the stars revolved around a stationary Earth.

In the half-century since its publication, however, Copernicus' theory met mostly with skepticism. Skeptics countered with the "common sense" notion that the earth they stood on appeared not to move at all--much less at the speed required to fully rotate every twenty-four hours while spinning around the sun

Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method

The Scientific Revolution was taken place in the 1500's. The theory lives until the day of today. The ancient Greeks and Christianity taught others that the sun and other planets revolved around the earth. The ancient Greeks have been teaching that way for thousands of year, passing it on.

The Scientific Method helped prove that wrong, the theory of Aristotle was believed to be true for around 1500 years, Galileo proved his theory wrong, he tested if heavier objects would fall faster than lighter objects...and the theory was wrong, they both fall down at the same speed. That day that Galileo tested his theory, the streak of 1500 years was officially ripped apart.

The new group of scientist used the scientific method alot, to approve or disapprove of an idea . They didn't let a random theory or idea slip through their fingers, they do several experiments on it to prove it right or wrong. Thats how its been for the last pair of years, scientist use the scientific method to prove of an idea, and they always succeed.

Evolution Vs. Creation

50% Believe
Evolution
-Humans Evolved
-Primates
-Charles Darwin

Evolution is something the the human society has had a theory of for years. It has been proved to be one of the most famous theories. Part of the theory is Survival of the fittest, you have to be in shape to survive and reproduce. That's part of what 50% of the world believe in.

Vs.

50% Believe
Creation
-God creates humans
-Created world + animals
-Bible ---------> Old test
-Adam + Eve

The other part believe in Creation, that the human being wasn't evolved. They believe that the human being was made by God's image, that he chose what he wanted in the typical body of a human. The first man and first women sinned so that's why we're all imperfect. God created the world and animals, the animals to supply is with food. Thats what 50% believe in.

My opinion is that the animals didn't get there all by themselves..Someone had to put them there.
I'm more with the creation side because i believe that the evolution part makes no sense. Evolution says that we evolved from primates, how did the primates get their food? Shelter? or the 5 senses? God gave it to them so they could make a living.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chrisglobalblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/evolution-vs-creation_15.html' title='Evolution Vs.
